Recent good news for the mining industry and machine manufacturers around the world also means success for affiliates. The Finnish Ab. A. Häggblom Oy, growth brings the opening of the Central European market and more jobs to Finland.
Machine manufacturers around the world in different industries are in a tough position. For decades Häggblom Oy has been manufacturing undercarriages and track solutions for Finnish equipment manufacturers, but now the doors to Central Europe have been opened when the company starts cooperation with international equipment manufacturer Terex. Häggblom delivers large customized track-driven undercarriages for Terex-manufactured equipment. The value of the deal is over EUR 1 million.
- We have strong operations in Finland, and at the beginning of the decade we went to other Nordic countries. We now have a good opening in the European market for “bigger fish”, says Jukka Karhula, Managing Director of Häggblom Oy.
Effects in mining industry will also be evident
As the car is electrified, various battery chemicals and metals will need mining. According to Karhula, the demand for metals is strong.
“Battery chemicals and minerals are a very big megatrend today, not only in Finland, but also internationally, as it is for us."
Häggblom Group's turnover is EUR 30 million. Last year, the company's net sales growth was a staggering 25 percent and growth is expected to continue in the future.
- The mining industry's atmosphere is reflected in our market and customer base. When mining increases, so does the needs for our solutions, says Karhula.
New investments in Finland
Häggblom Oy employs 120 people in Finland. Positive growth brings investments to Kokkola and Kalajoki locations totaling more than two million euros. A new 3,000 square meter logistics center will be completed in Kokkola in the spring of 2019 and additional recruitment will be started for the Kalajoki production facility – requiring dozens of new professionals.
